Choosing the right style of clothing is important. Incorrect choice of attire could lead to some discomfort at the minimum, like being cold and wet, or hot and stuffy. Some considerations when looking for outdoor clothing:

• What climates will I be wearing it in?
• Does it need to be as light as possible?
• How long is my trip? (Consider travel specific underwear…)

There are numerous reasons why clothing for the outdoors will beat your favourite pair of jeans and sweatshirt. The main difference is in the choice of fabrics the garments are made from, which generally include synthetics in many forms, and merino wool. These fabrics are used is for their excellent properties of wicking away moisture from the skin keeping you dry and comfortable, synthetic fabrics in particular dry much quicker than cotton fabrics, and they stay warm even when damp.

Style and function is also important, as not everyone agrees with the ‘safari hunter’ look. Outdoor clothing is made to suit specific activities like bushwalking and trekking, travelling and backpacking, rock climbing and mountaineering with special features not found in everyday clothing. Some examples are hidden zip pockets on pants for travel security, venting built into long-sleeve shirts for extra comfort in hot climates, zip-off legs on pants for a combination short and pant in one, extra large hoods on some jackets to accommodate a climbing or ski helmet, or even anti-microbial treated underwear for the game. These are just some of the many features found in the range.
